The project "YouthActivism.Net in Europe" is implemented by the Foundation of Social and Political Studies (Cyprus) together with its four partners: The NGO Support Centre from Cyprus, DICOCOM from Italy, AVANZZA S. COOP. from Spain and International Child Development Initiatives (ICDI) from the Netherlands. The Foundation of Social and Political Studies (FSPS) The Foundation of Social and Political Studies-FSPS was founded in April 2002. It is a non-profit, private foundation that acts primarily as a research association, cooperating closely with governmental and private organizations both at a national as well as at an international level (European Union, North America, East Mediteranean region). European University Cyprus - EUC initiated the procedures for the establishment of this non-profit foundation to enhance political and social science research in the academic community both within and outside the University. The main objective of the FESPS is ti promote scientific research and capacity programmes in all fields associated with the social, political and cultural development as well as the relationship between society and its members at both national and European level. In cooperation with established foundations/ research institutes both in Cyprus and abroad, the Foundation follows closely with any interactive developments in the political, social and cultural issues or problems, aiming at the enhancement of knowledge in the current society of citizens. FESPS has a broad portofolio of research activities and substantial experience in running, coordinating, and implementing projects. Many of the Foundation's research projects respond to the pressing social, economic, political, and environmental problems of the day. The Foundation is a member of the Cyprus National Network of the Anna Lindth Foundation. Through this partnership, the FESPS aims at mobilizing civil society groups across the two shores of the Mediterranean and other European countries, in order to unite in a collective action for dialogue and to engage the wider public and opinion-makers on the importance of intercultural dialogue in challenging conflict and discrimination in the region. Moreover, FESPS organises with the student union of EUC a series of dissemination events (information days, workshops, lectures, etc.) related to the European Union and education. An indicative list of events organised is: Racism in football; New education practices in Europe; The consequences of EU membership of Cyprus; Opportunities for employment and Career Fairs. Website: http://www.fesps.org NGO Support Centre (NGO-SC) The NGO Support Centre (NGO-SC) was formed in December 1999 in the Republic of Cyprus as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), for the purpose of supporting the development of an emerging civil society. The Centre provides skills and resources to not for profit organizations, who contribute to the socio-economic development of the island of Cyprus. The centre aims: to contribute to increasing the capacity of the NGOs by providing consulting and training on organizational and management issues; to promote awareness on the role of the Sector in developing transparency and democratic procedures and to encourage initiatives in this field of Civil Society; to support initiatives which contribute to strenghtening Cypriot Civil Society and to reinforce links between Cypriot Civil Society Organizations on both sides of the divide, as well as links with international Civil Society Organizations. The organization is supported by the following Board members who bring to the centre extensive experience in their respective fields as well as an extensive network of contacts with the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities and with international NGO's. The Board has expertise in the following fields: Mediation and Conflict Resolution, Chartered Accountancy, IT, Government pertnerships, Human Resource Development, Leadership and Management, Women's Rights and Civil Rights. The Centre's team has a long background in partnering with Civil Society Organizations, both from within Cyprus and internationally. The Centre has working relationships with a number of Greek Cypriot organizations and has also built good relationships with Turkish Cypriot organization, including the Management Centre of the Mediterranean, the Mediation Centre and the Near East University. Internationally, the Centre has developed programmes of work with organizations including INTRAC - the International NGO Training and Research Centre, The Kinetic Partnership and Framework UK. The NGO Support Centre is currently hosting a number of projects that fall into the following categories: training courses, short term Consultancy Support to CSO's, Capacity Building and long term development of CSO's, dialogue and discussion forums, and events co-ordination and Project management. Website: http://www.ngo-sc.org DICOCOM Srl DICOCOM is a small firm highly sensitive to scientific culture and promotion (its core business include training activities, editorial work, cultural design, scientific mediation). It was born in 2000 with the main object to offer consultancy in the field of organization and management; by the time its interest and core business are changed approaching more and more cultural and scientific research matters. Nowadays it works since 2004 with European projects of transnational cooperation mainly in the field of culture, where it cooperates with several universities and other cultural bodies in many European countries. It is a partner of Euromediterranean Interinstitutional Centre for the development of relationship among Campania and Mediterranean countries in cultural field. It designs and realizes Training Courses on behlf of Regione Campania. DICOCOM is egnaged in researches and services in convention with Osservatorio Vesuviano - National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology, the same with INAF Osservatorio Astronomico di Capodimonte; on behalf of Suor Orsola University of Naples it also coordinated a MIUR (Minister of University and Scientific Research) project on development of ICT. It took part in 2006, 2007, and 2008 Researchers' nights winning the calls. Website: http://www.dicocom.it AVANZZA S. COOP. Avanzza is a private consulting and training firm. One of our major areas of interest is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), also called "Corporate citizenship". Through our business unit "Corporate Health" we focus on those aspects dealing with the way that companies take responsibility for the impact of their activities on customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders, local communities and other stakeholders. The organization's training activities within this area aim at raising the awareness among companies of the importance of the investing efforts in taking voluntarily further steps in improving the quality of life for employees and their families as well as for the local community and society at large. The training programmes cover the following topics: responsible HR management, conciliation of professional and family life, social awareness and education, sustainable development, environmental protection, active citizenship, corporate ethics, risk management, etc.. Through consultancy services the organization assists customers in raisin funds in the form of grants, both from public and private institutions, in order to develop the CSR activities. Website: http://www.avanzza.es International Child Development Initiatives (ICDI) ICDI is a Duch based NGO founded in 1994. ICDI promotes thew well-being of children growing up in difficult circumstances. ICDI works to improve the policies and practices which affect these children by doing research and training. The organization believe in the power of children and young people, supporting their rights and addressing the underlying causes for the problems they face. ICDI implements research, capacity building and policy development activities on topics such as foster care, children in institutions, youth in conflict, children with handicaps, HIV Aids prevention and education, street children, etc. ICDI is a member of diverse international networks.
